Hi there!
I promise I’m working on a full review, but I didn’t finish the photography before I had to leave town for family-related issues again.
But I do have some fun stuff for you anyway. These are a couple things I’ve been saving for a rainy day, and I believe this qualifies. Well, it’s more of a windy day, really– as I’m writing this, we’re having 65mph gusts. Fun stuff.
Today I’ve got an in-depth look at a Russian Funskool figure for you, along with even more modern day barbarians and wrestlemen.
Russian Funskool GI Joe Mainframe
Did you ever wonder what separates Russian Funskool GI Joe Mainframe from his Indian and domestic counterparts? Well, it’s not much if I’m being honest. But you can learn all about the figure anyway with the link below.
You can always access that little profile through this page, my Russian Funskool roundup, or the GI Joe tab at the top of the website.
Anyway, onto the meat of the post.
More Masters of the Universe Origins Mini-Reviews
I usually post these little reviews on Twitter, so maybe you’ve seen them there. But also maybe not! Despite this being a 90s-focused site, people seem to enjoy these photos and writeups for modern 80s barbarians and wrestlers of all eras, so here’s some more for you.
A bunch of them, actually, both new and old.
Eternian Goddess/Green Goddess
Green Goddess.
She’s not the jaw-droppingly gorgeous translucent emerald of the MOTUC version, but she also won’t shatter when you touch her. She’s just a Teela repaint, but the colors are pretty nice and she’s a fun, niche character. 7/10
Stinkor
It’s Stinkor!
He doesn’t smell like patchouli, but he does have a faint aroma. Soap maybe? Still, he’s an adorable demon skunk man with orange armor and a useless shield. How could you not love him? 7/10
Eternian Palace Guards
First up, Palace Guards. I was really excited for these, but they are fiddly. The armor loves to come off and they can’t hold their shields at all. Still, they look nice, are a great army builder, and include a cool extra MAA head. 7/10
Chyna
It’s Chyna!
I don’t know much about her, but she seemed like a cool human being. She makes a FANTASTIC sci-fi barbarian, though. Her Princess of Power vibes are unimpeachable, her colors and gear are perfect, and she just has the coolest look about her. Love the axe/comb. 8/10
Mosquitor
Mosquitor! My 1st version of the character. The blood-pumping action figure and blood sucking effect piece are disgusting fun. He looks like an absolute sicko and is really fun to pose. I love the laser gun and alternate head, too. Pixel Dan was right, as always. 9/10
Orko
Orko!
This is such a cute and fun little figure. Maybe the best Orko toy ever? I do wish he came with an accessory other than the stand, though. And his head is a little on the bobbly side. 7/10
The Rock
Here’s The Rock. A good sculpt and a pretty cool look. I like his championship belt and electricity effects. He’s not super exciting, though. 6/10
Beast Man (Lords of Power)
Lords of Power Beast Man!
Now THIS is a Beast Man I can actually respect. He actually looks intimidating and dangerous. The yellow armor is fantastic, too. I wish he had a real weapon, though. And he is still Beast Man. So, while I like him, he’s only 7/10.
Man-E-Faces
Man-E-Faces.
I have no real attachment to the character, but this toy was a very pleasant surprise. It’s a joy. The face sculpts are a little soft and leg articulation is a bit iffy, though. 7/10
Trap Jaw
Trap Jaw!
One of the coolest and most iconic MOTU characters. The toy looks incredible and works perfectly. The face sculpt is maybe a bit soft, but this is one of the best toys in the line. You can also give him Kane’s attachments. 9/10
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Stone Cold Trap Jawstin!
His robo-arm likes to pop out before it flexes outward at the shoulder and his vest gets in the way, but otherwise he’s SO GOOD. Great detail on the vest and a really cool look. You can’t make him into a normal wrestler really, though. 8/10
The New Day
The New Day.
I don’t know much about these fellas, but this is just the definition of a fun toy. A great, inspired gimmick and brilliant colors. I wish the toy came with a weapon, but it’s still amazing. 8/10
Webstor
Webstor!
I’ve always been fond of this dark blue spider fellow. His action feature works great his sculpt is on point, and his colors are splendid. I have zero complaints and am very happy for him to join Skeletor’s exploited labor force. 8/10
Jake the Snake Roberts
Jake The Snake Roberts.
Another wrestler I actually know. And beyond having a great color palette, this toy is phenomenal. Jake has a human disguise, but is actually an evil Snake Man. I gave him some extra Man-At-Arms parts for his true form, though. Anyway, 10/10.
Signing Off
Thanks for joining me.
What are your thoughts on Funskool Mainframe? Are you still enjoying MOTU Origins? Are you bummed Masters of the WWE Universe was canceled? Let me know in the comments!
Origins may stand to become the best overall toyline of the 2020s. I dunno. I dunno! It might! It just might.
Orko and Trap Jaw are the best of these for me. I should have picked up Jake the Snake. You’re right to give him ten out of ten. I still don’t know what to do with Green Goddess. I like her a lot but I’m not sure where she fits into the mythos for me.
Now Lords of Power Beast Man, for me he’s an AU Beast Man who has the same level of power as Skeletor. Like He-Man tumbles through a dimensional portal and ends up in a world where Beast Man is the master of Snake Mountain. I do wish he came with some accessories, though.

A Spanish speaking MOTU Origins customizer made a robot skinned Man-E-Faces, And a monster skinned one…and took the Classics bonus head with He-Man/Skeletor/Orko faces and did a heckuva lot of work making an Origins Manny with those faces.
Origins Orko could stand a recolor.
Chyna is decent if a bit homely. Her and Jake the Snake are worthy to hang with MOTU, the rest…I dunno.
Palace Guard, I’ve heard the heads are the same but one has a mouth guard. Why not make that guard removable and I dunno, a really different head? And no extra gripping left hand? Also, the black dot eyes look bad. I mean, you can make something too retro, Mattel.
Trap-Jaw, Beastman, Manny, I missed those waves. The only Origins figs I see at retail are the wave I have and Flying Fists He-Man…but once they go over $20 I’m out, especially for lead character variants.
I have 4 figures on preorder, but the only one I truly want is Mer-Man V1. Because I want to like the line more than I really do thus far. Will I cancel them? Will I care in the fall? She-Ra, Zodac, Mer-Man…who was the fourth?
