Over the weekend, I went back home and attended a birthday party for my good friend Kyle. It was technically a joint birthday party for my friend Caitlin as well, but she was on an intense-sounding bike ride for much of the evening. Either way, it was a good time.
Chun-Li accompanied me.
This Chun-Li figure is from Hasbro’s 1994 Street Fighter: The Movie toy line. For a long time, it was one of my “holy grail” figures because it was a brand new sculpt (that likely would have been reused for the planned Cammy figure) for the movie line, GI Joe doesn’t have all that many many female characters, and Chun-Li is cool as hell.
So, anyway, I asked everyone at that little birthday party to take a photo of Chun-Li. It was a great way to make friends play with of one of my favorite GI Joe-style figures.
This is what they came up with, in chronological order.

I’m glad I got to celebrate with Kyle and Caitlin, as they are two of my favorite people ever. Chun-Li also enjoyed the experience.
Thanks for reading, and prepare for a new review on Thursday.
Would you believe this is the most of that figure I’ve ever seen? And I aggressively sought out the movie figures as a kid! Glad you both had fun!

And she’s a hard one to find, even on the aftermarket. It took me many, many years to find even a decent one at a somewhat reasonable price.

“Take a picture of this action figure!” is a brilliant party game and I wish I’d thought of it first.

Please feel free to steal it from me and claim it as your own!

Some of those Chun-Li’s appeared on Ebay vs Chinese sellers like a decade ago, and I was not smart enough to get one. That whole wave of SF movie toys was scarce. I guess people found them at close out, but I never saw them in a store. The ones I have were flea market and comic show finds. I still lack Chun-Li and Balrog.

It’s nice to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by!
I never saw these figures from Chinese sellers on eBay, but I probably wasn’t looking too hard for them 10 years ago. So I missed out too. I never once saw anything other than Guile variants in stores, I don’t think, aside from the vehicles. I’m missing a lot of the movie figures still, including Balrog. I’m sure we’ll both get there someday, though.
